Cornflowers and Too Much Dante // I'm Off!

I've heard enough about flinging books into the Arno, "real" Florentine smells, and the romantic perils of entering a field of barley touched with crimson stains of poppies. In fact, Justin and I are running away from home to see it all for ourselves and to hopefully find our very own room with a view.

I'll be back on February 9th to answer your inquiries and notes!

Happy Birthday // The Fixin' To Turns One!

Remember these guys? Frito pie, dixie beer, shuffleboard, veggie chili bowls, and some owners who (as Bart would put it) kick about 31 flavors of ass... This Saturday they're celebrating their first anniversary of bringing a certain southern charm to little North Portland and we couldn't be happier about it. Seeing as I'm across the country, buried in snow and unable to leave the house, I won't be able to make it. Sigh. Hopefully this flier I made for the event will work as a symbol of my love and admiration for the Fixin' To and it's incredible 365 days of being. So get your asses down there to celebrate and order a veggie chili bowl and a PBR in my honor!

Falling For You // khali & potsch

I've been excited about sharing Khali and Potsch's wedding since the moment I laid eyes on them... the day they arrived in Portland after a long drive from L.A. for their engagement shoot over a year ago. One smile and a hug later, I felt like I'd known them my whole life. You look at Khali and Potsch and you see two shining beings full of incredible creativity, humor, talent, thoughtfulness, as well as a timeless quality that's hard to pinpoint. They strike that improbable balance between glamorous movie star and kid next door that reminds me a little of my grandparents, who spent the 60s touring nightclubs all over the country while playing a variety show. Khali and Potsch have that same creative force as a pair, that same giddy twinkle in their eye, and the same ability to put you totally at ease in their presence. You look at them and you know their love is real.

Please
pop over to Green Wedding Shoes for more photos and to get the lowdown straight from the bride, as this celebration was jam-packed with more handmade loveliness than you can imagine possible. You'll hear about silk-screened napkins, a paper bouquet, a tree hanging with family frames, a patchwork ring rope, a cupcake village, hand-sewn spats, butterflies for bouquets, big brats, tiny living terrariums, and the incredible movie they made and starred in (Falling For You) that brought down the entire house. Thank you, Jen, for the beautiful feature! Keep an eye on Khali's blog, too, for more photo goodness!
