Flora and Fauna
{ T.G.I.H #18 }

Back-to-back TGIHs was not my intention this week, folks. I've been repeatedly shooed away from my computer since last week for reasons like: attempting snowboarding but instead expertly bruising my tailbone/wrist, shooting
secret portraits for a local food chain campaign, and editing my first underwater session. Now I have an eye twitch.

The highlight of my week came when my favorite florist of all time, A.Hana Design from SF, asked that I design them an ad banner for various wedding blogs. She sent (yes, by mail) one of the most breathtaking bouquets I've ever laid eyes on, and with the help of Nadia's makeup magic, we put together a small shoot to showcase those lovely buds. I hope they help propel you into a relaxing weekend....

Freya's Mortals
{ brittany & evan }

Brittany and Evan met playing soccer in Brazil many years ago.... the rest, as they say, is history. They just moved here and were excited about engagement portraits to show their friends and family down south their new 'hood... I was thrilled to spend one of Portland's first sunny days of the year wandering around town with this wonderful couple
, learning their favorite haunts, and of course, meeting their rambunctious goddess of a dog, Freya.

Mr. Green
{ and the dreaded haircut }

A few snapshots of proof that he once did, at an oh so lovely time, have hair.

The following were taken moments before his visit to the barbershop.

Sigh.

Does he have to look so damn HAPPY about it??!

Smokey & the Bandit
{ TGIH #16 }

As you may or may not know, Hannah and I tackle TGIH every week just the two of us- we do all the makeup, hair, clothing, lighting, set, etc. Like when we were little and we "played pretend" for hours of dress up and imagining-- just the two of us. But when our favorite makeup artist, Nadia, asked to dive in with us this week, we couldn't resist.
It was a truly amazing thing to see how Hannah transformed first into a Bed Head ad and then 20 minutes later into an Almadovar character. Like it was easy or something! Kudos, Nadia, for your transformative touch and to Hannah once again for being the Chameleon I've loved and cherished since I could dress you and the dogs up to match 20 years ago.

And HAPPY FRIDAY!

The Fixin' To
{ Portland Bar, Southern Soul }

When Justin and I heard about the new place opening around the corner from us, we got into a downright tizzy. While I sat, daydreaming all of the amazing southern treats they'd serve and what a great space the building would create, Justin offered to build their bar. Typical. His do-gooder zeal inspired me to design their new website (print materials to come)! Since their opening last weekend, we have been in often, happily celebrating the general neighborhoodie ambiance of this bar with an undoubtedly bright future. The owners, Marli, Bart, and Megan are hip, cool people with wonderful friends and their buddy/cook Grant is a true visionary. Did I MENTION he makes Frito Pie??

Visit www.thefixinto.com to get a snippet of their coolness, scroll on for some photos of their first live evening, or stop by and cozy up in a booth for some warm treats and cool spirits. They'll be open this weekend for Superbowl madness, where you'll find most patrons' eyes on the TV, save for mine, which will be focused intently on my Dixie beer and vegan dumplings. Yumm.
